Teachers may implement this task with the following procedures…

Students will be tasked with First students will complete the task  “Puzzle Pieces that Connect”  to narrow down their focus to 2 people they learned about.

  •  Students will pick 2 people they learned about and list 3-5 things that connect these people to Detroit and/or Michigan.

  •  Students will describe at least 2 ways these people had an impact on or contributed to the growth of the Metro Detroit Michigan area.

Then they will take their puzzle piece and use it to provide a written claim about 1 person's local impact on their community supported by evidence from the sources they analyzed.
