Day 3: Document-Based Question Analysis

4 – H3.0.1 Use historical inquiry questions to investigate the development of Michigan’s major economic activities from statehood to present.
Objective
Students will be able to use questions to assist in analyzing historical documents that relate to major economic activities in the growth of Detroit.
Assessments
● Students will use the DBQ Analysis worksheet to show understanding.
● Students will complete a short Quizalize on DBQ understanding.
Instructional Activities
● Review previous analysis techniques discussed
● Show students various photographs from Historic Photos of Detroit to introduce students to the lives that inhabit Detroit so they have context when completing the DBQ
● Introduce concept of DBQ analysis via YouTube video
● Grand conversation on DBQ, introduce New Detroit Committee photograph and analysis worksheet
● Students will work with a partner on DBQ analysis worksheet
● Partner share out on analysis findings. What did they determine? (who/what/where/when/why)
