Oral Histories & Additional Resources

The SEIU District 925 Legacy Project, conducted 2005-2007, aimed through a series of oral history interviews to chronicle the organization’s 20-year history (1981-2001) and provide insight into the relationship between the women’s movement and organized labor, during a time of great social and technological change. Karen Nussbaum, Debbie Schneider, and Kim Cook comprised the 925 Legacy Project Committee, and the interviews were conducted by Ann Froines and Stacey Heath. Interviewees discuss such topics as their involvement in 9to5 and District 925; the aims, work, and legacy of the two organizations; interviewee backgrounds and family life; entry into and experiences in the workforce, the labor movement, and social activism; and the work done to bring women’s issues to the fore in the labor movement. A sample of these materials can be found below, full collection can be accessed here.

RESTRICTIONS: Due to the personal nature of oral history, the Library prohibits use of the material in any way that infringes on individual right to privacy, or results in libelous statements or slander, in accordance with U.S. law.
