To celebrate the birth at London of the new International Confederation of Free Trade unions, Force Ouviere organized on December 11, 1949, a large-scale evening's entertainment at the Palais de Chaillot at Paris. Several delegations of the foriegn trade unionists were present. From left to right: Matthew Woll, Vice President of the AFL and Chairman of the AFL Committee of International Relations; Leon Jouhauzz, President of Force Ouvriere; Walter Reuther, President of the United Automobile Workers, CIO, all of whom spoke at the gathering, and Robert Bothereau, Confederal Secretary of F.O.
