Walter Reuther, President of the United Automobile Workers, CIO, visited the Renault Automobile plant in Paris on December 12, 1949, following his stay in London where he participated in the Free Labor Congress. To celebrate the birth at London of the new International Confederation of Free Trade unions, Force Ouviere organized on December 11, 1949, a large-scale evening's entertainment at the Palais de Chaillot at Paris. Several delegations of the foriegn trade unionists were present.
