George Schermer, director of Detroit’s Mayor’s Interracial Committee, provides testimony before Robert Montgomery, Chairman, State Affairs Committee, Michigan House of Representatives in support of state fair employment practices to help alleviate economic discrimination, which is the basis of many of the problems afflicting Detroit's Black community. The Mayor’s Interracial Committee was established to improve race relations following the 1943 Detroit Race Riot. April 18, 1951.
